....TO MY MOTHER MARIA TERENZIA
My mother has come back a child. She is a tender creature who is unable to speak, unable to
eat, unable to walk. She has great dark eyes looking into the emptiness… Her own world is
timeless, without space and living place.
Day by day she has been losing her-self in a wood from which she will never come out. Sometimes she looks at me, in the
eyes, and it is, as she wished to tell me a story that she doesn't remember any more. She
doesn't remember having got sons, nor having loved a man, that she didn't realize he passed
away. She doesn't know my name, nor who I am, but she is always kind to me. She
doesn't remember any more when she was caressing me gently, giving me reassuring caress while I used to be wrapped in her arms
warmly. She doesn't tell me fairy stores any more, nor does she prepare succulent meals for me.
Now I take care of her, feed her, speak to her and assure her that her mother is out for a while and soon will come back.
My mother has no sense of shame, nor does she blush as she used to. She was a fragile and a strong woman, at the same time. I imagine her at the age of
seventeen, in the middle of 1930's, when she got married to my father who loved her with an everlasting love and always protected
her. She was so beautiful and well dressed to be envied by her classmates.
My mother is going out like a candlelight in a glass bell. Her glance (look) is more and more
vague, her body is more and more motionless (immobile)… and I (am present) witness her sad reality…. I
cry! But I restore my soul by remembering that in 1984 she testified Jesus the Lord as her own
Redemptor, leaving back every worthless and empty religiosity.
Her immortal soul is alive, thanks to the Only One who sacrificed his life for
everybody, Jesus in whom she has always believed (trusted). Then, my mind goes to the Holy Bible and by paraphrasing the famous "Ode on the
death" of the apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 15: 55-58), I shout: "Where, o
Alzheimer, is your sting? Where, o Satan of ill, is your victory? You can destroy the body but not the soul and the
spirit! God be thanked for giving us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ". My mother realized all
this, one-day. It was a coherent testimony in which she has believed and followed till the end, even though it was in silence by many circumstances among her own family, her relatives as well as her village of
origin.
Now she is saved and in the certain Rest that was promised by the Holy Father to stay with Jesus in the
eternity. And we'll be there together, mamma and sister in faith Maria Terenzia, as you used to repeat by singing the Christian
chorus:
" Always together for the eternity".your son and brother, Alberto.

PROCLAMATION ON MARRIAGE
We, the Presiding, the General Board of the Evangelical Center-Jesus Is Alive, solemnly proclaim
that the institution of marriage was established and ordained by God (Genesis 2:24). Therefore
"God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created
he them" (Genesis 1:27). He created "the woman for the man" (I Corinthians 11:9). Therefore,
"marriage is honorable" (Hebrews 13:4).
We believe that since the beginning of recorded history, in most cultures of the world; marriage
has been defined as the lawful union of one man and one woman. The traditional form of marriage
is one of the bedrock institutions of most societies. We, therefore, affirm the preservation of
the present definition of marriage as being the legal union of one man and one woman as husband
and wife.
We believe that, "Children are a heritage of the Lord; and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
" (Psalms 127:3). In order to provide for continuation of the species, God created within male
and female the potential for bearing children. The first commandment given to Adam and Eve was to
"be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth." (Genesis 1:28). Marriage between male and
female provide the structure for conceiving and raising children. Compliance with this command of
God is a physical and biological impossibility in same-sex unions. We, therefore, believe that only
marriages between male and female, as ordained by God, is essential for the procreation of mankind.
We believe that the homosexual practices of same-sex couples are in violation of religious and
social norms and are aberrant and deviant behavior. We believe that these unions are sinful and
in direct violation of the law of God in that they are a deviation from the natural use and
purpose of the body. "For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women
exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural
use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful,
and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which is due." (Romans 1:26-27).
We believe that to legalize such unions will signal ecclesiastical and social approval of
homosexuality and sexual deviancy as legitimate lifestyles.
Therefore, in spite of the progressive normalization of alternative lifestyles and the growing
legal acceptance of same-sex unions; we declare our opposition to any deviation from traditional
marriages of male and female. Notwithstanding the rulings of the court systems of the land in
support of same-sex unions; we resolve that the Church “ Jesus Is Alive “ stand resolutely firm
and never allow the sanctioning of same-sex marriages by its clergy nor recognize the legitimacy
of such unions.

this earth. What is still there after you have made so many efforts to reach your goals?
As the most sucessful man in the history of mankind I tell you that you will feel an emptiness
at the end of your way, when you have achieved everything. You will notice that everything is
futile, everything you have fought for, everything you have given your time and energy for.
Have you already made this experience?
The generation of your grandparents has passed away; that of your parents will soon be over,
and your own will not last for a very long time either. As the sun repeats its course every day
the elements are doing the same: The river is making its way to the ocean, the wind is blowing
from the East to the West, from the North to the South.
Whatever there is has been already.
The things that keep you in thrall today will be boring tomorrow. Do you want to tell me that
there are new things that are really worth living for? The things you may create or build will
not last, and in the end you will not really need them.
During my life I had more power than other people. I saw many things, and I tried everything that
life had to offer. But I realized that everything is useless, senseless and futile. Then I
thought: «Neither power nor money can give me fulfillment.» Therefore I tried to achieve wisdom.
I became a wise man, and I was looking for a meaning in my life, but even this effort was
useless. Nothing in life has a real meaning. The more you know the more you suffer.
Then I thought: «It’s better to enjoy life, anyway.» I did everything I felt like doing. I
drowned my problems in alcohol. There were no limits to what I was doing. But it is impossible to
drown problems because they always come to the surface again. Although I lived for enjoyment, I
felt that everything was without any meaning. I thought: «In the end the successful share the
fate of the poorest people. Why then are the manager and the businessman making so many efforts
to be sucessful? What are they doing this for?»
I began to hate life because I was afraid that after me others would destroy and scatter the
things that I created, and I felt as if I were robbed of my hope for the future.
There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven: A time for giving
birth, a time for dying; a time for planting, a time for uprooting what has been planted. A time
for killing, a time for healing; a time for knocking down, a time for building. A time for
tears, a time for laughter; a time for mourning, a time for dancing. A time for throwing stones
away, a time for gathering them; a time for embracing, a time to refrain from embracing. A time
for searching, a time for losing; a time for keeping, a time for discarding. A time for tearing,
a time for sewing; a time for keeping silent, a time for speaking. A time for loving, a time for
hating; a time for war, a time for peace.
What do people gain from the efforts they make? I contemplate the task that God gives humanity
to labour at. All that he does is apt for its time; but although he has given us an awareness of
the passage of time, we can grasp neither the beginning nor the end of what God does. I know
there is no happiness for a human being except in pleasure and enjoyment through life. And when
we eat and drink and find happiness in all our achievements, this is a gift from God. I know that
whatever God does will be for ever. To this there is nothing to add, from this there is nothing
to subtract, and the way God acts inspires dread. What is, has been already, what will be, is
already; God seeks out anyone who is persecuted.
Again I observe under the sun: crime is where justice should be, the criminal is where the
upright should be. And I think to myself: the upright and the criminal will both be judged by God,
since there is a time for every thing and every action here. I think to myself: where human
beings are concerned, this is so that God can test them and show them that they are animals. For
the fate of human and the fate of animal is the same: as the one dies, so the other dies; both
have the selfsame breath. Human is in no way better off than animal -- since all is futile.
Everything goes to the same place, everything comes from the dust, everything returns to the
dust. Who knows if the human spirit mounts upward or if the animal spirit goes downward to the
earth? I see there is no contentment for a human being except happiness in achievement; such is
the lot of a human beings. No one can tell us what will happen after we are gone.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-22
Although I was the most successful man in history, I want to tell you: «Do everything you want,
enjoy your life, but you will achieve nothing. One day you will be accountable to God for
everything you did. This is why you should do one thing right now: Remember God who is your
creator!»
This is my advice to you: «Love God because this is the meaning and purpose of your life. In Him
everything has a meaning.» I have found out that only with God life is worth living.
